Florence

La Ghiotta restaurant located in Florence, Italy, offers a genuine taste of traditional Tuscan home cooking in the heart of the Sant’Ambrogio area. The restaurant's kitchen deliberately avoids elaborate presentations in favour of substantial, familiar recipes prepared with seasonal ingredients. Fresh pasta, meat and fish dishes, schiacciate and homemade desserts form the basis of a varied menu, while traditional Tuscan specialities give the cuisine a strong sense of place. Its atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with the character of a family run trattoria where food remains at the centre of the experience.

The family run character of La Ghiotta also comes through in the hospitality, with family members and their team sharing the dining room and counter and creating a friendly, straightforward atmosphere. Service is attentive and friendly complementing the generous and uncomplicated style of the cooking. For those discovering Florence and looking beyond more elaborate dining experiences, this is a pleasant place to encounter the everyday flavours of Tuscany in an authentic setting. Add La Ghiotta to a Florence food itinerary, make a reservation, and settle in for a generous meal rooted in the genuine traditions of Tuscan home cooking.

Real food.
An oasis of real cooking in the centre of a tourist trap. Authentic home cooked food was delicious, large potions and small price. Would recommend to anybody. Slightly lower score on atmosphere as this is not meant to be a high end romantic venue, just a good honest to goodness place to eat.
